System Network Administrator Position-NOVA

This position will be on-site supporting the transportation management operations center in Northern Virginia. The position requires a minimum of 5 years experience with Windows 2000/2003/XP system administration including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. Experience with BackupExec, Oracle and Crystal Reports is also desirable. Candidate must have MCSE/MCSA certification or equivalent work experience, plus operational experience supporting a 24x7x365 environment. Open Roads Consulting, headquartered in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake, VA, is a fullservice technology company that specializes in innovative software and hardware solutions for the transportation and security industries. We are seeking to hire a Systems Administrator to work on-site at the VDOT Traffic Management Center in Northern Virginia. The successful candidate will be hired as an Open Roads employee to be on-site at the VDOT Smart Traffic Center (STC). Since this facility operates 24/7, on-call support will be required during off-hours.

The successful candidate must have the following:

• Sufficient Windows experience with servers (NT/2000/2003) and workstations (XP Pro)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Customer-oriented, positive, can-do attitude; flexible and self-motivated
• Ability to work independently
• Troubleshooting skills

The ideal candidate will also have experience with the following:

• Associates or Bachelor's Degree in the field of technology
• MCSA 2000/2003 or equivalent work experience
• Proven troubleshooting skills with servers and workstations, TCP/IP connectivity, and Windows 2000/2003/XP
• Experience with Oracle database administration, tuning, and recovery
• Practical experience with the software development life-cycle, including change control and configuration management
• BackupExec or equivalent for disaster recovery
• Use of Crystal Reports to modify and run reports
• Experience with RemotelyAnywhere or equivalent remote access software
• Experience with Cisco routers, firewalls, and VPN technology
• Operational experience supporting a 24x7x365 environment
• Scripting experience with Windows Scripting Host

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Customer liaison; respond to operational questions and issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and communications issues
• Participate in Change Control Board meetings and change control process
• Document network/system architecture, configuration settings, and troubleshooting procedures
• Design, install, configure and maintain a Windows 2003 network including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and IIS.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot Open Roads' application software and associated Oracle database
• Perform hardware and software upgrades as needed on network, server and workstation equipment
• Responsible for configuration, monitoring and security of STC data network
• System backups and recovery using BackupExec
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
