HAMPTON ROADS, VA -- Known as "ADMS Virginia," the Virginia Archived Data Management System is a development effort to create a system enabling the use of archived ITS data for transportation applications such as planning and mobility measurement.

The Federal Highway Administration and the Virginia Department of Transportation sponsored the initial development effort on this project. VDOT led that effort with the team members the University of Virginia Center for Transportation Studies and George Mason University. Open Roads Consulting, Inc. was subcontracted the software development portion of the project. The equipment necessary for the project were hosted at the Smart Travel Laboratory (STL), a joint facility of VDOT and UVA.

With the success of the project VDOT has pledged continuing support. Based on the historic traffic and other related data such as incident and weather data, the software system is designed to provide information needed by the identified users of the system, in a variety of formats.
