511 RIDE Condition Reporting System and
Scalable ITS Architecture

As part of Alaska’s new generation 511 Traveler Information System, Open Roads deployed a new condition reporting system and ITS data exchange network.

Open Roads is a leader in ITS technology solutions for real-time transportation operations. Our 511, ATMS, and 911 CAD integration systems provide mission-critical support to state and regional government transportation agencies. 511 RIDE is an Alaska-customized version of the Open Roads’ COTS Data Fusion and Condition Reporting System software, OpenCRS. Open Roads was able to deliver a low risk, low cost, semi-custom solution because the software is designed for maximum adaptability and configuration.

Open Roads also deployed its Data Gateway middleware solution to provide robust data exchange between 511 RIDE and Alaska’s new 511 telephone system and web site. Through the Data Gateway, Alaska’s new generation 511 system will be able to share real-time information with Alaska’s transit and ferry systems, external data providers, and neighboring Canadian provinces.
